Harold D. Sturtz, 91, passed away Dec. 11, 2016, at his home in Morristown. Harold was born Nov. 10, 1925, in La Porte City, Iowa, to Arthur Sturtz and Alice Van Fleet-Sturtz. Harold was raised in Brandon, Iowa, and attended schools there.
He later served in the U.S. Navy and was recipient of the Purple Heart. Following his military service he married Mary M. Bennett making their home in Washburn, Iowa.
They became a husband-wife team and pastored the Calvary Cathedral Church in Waterloo, Iowa, for over 20 years. Harold was a member of the Anchor Bay Evangelistic Association and very active in the community.
They retired and came to the Wickenburg area in 1998. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 2007; brothers Allen and Donald Sturtz; and sisters Sandra Platt and Marilyn Sturtz.
He is survived by daughters Sylvia (Richard) Beahr of Ennis, Texas, Sharon Myers of Wickenburg and Brenda Long of Morristown; grandchildren Rich Behr, Brenton Beahr, Shannon Rousselow, Ashlee Sievert, Amber Schmidt, Christian Sturtz and Meredith Burkes; and great-grandchildren Sheena, Chelsea, Drake, Meaghan, Tristan, Bella, Joel, Elijah, Dalton, Zoey, Aria, Jace, Riley and Bailey.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15 at Mt. Hope Assembly of God Church in Wickenburg. Friends may offer online condolences at www.wickenburgfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory.
