Weekly Journal-Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Wednesday, March 30, 1898, page 4, column 2 Hughey Mulvenon's Death Hugh Mulvenon died at Castle creek hot springs Friday morning, March 25, at 9:40 o'clock, after an illness of about two months and a half. He contracted a sever cold in Prescott in January, and on February 5 went to the hot springs, hoping to get relief from them. His condition was such that on his arrival, the doctor there advised him not to bathe. Shortly afterwards pleuro pneumonia set in, resulting fatally. Deceased was about 36 years of age, and was a native of Leavenworth, Kansas, where his parents reside. He has three brothers and a sister residing in Prescott - W. J., Al, and Austin Mulvenon and Mrs. M. Fagan. He had resided in this territory for a number of years. The remains were brought to Prescott on this morning's train and taken to S. A. Logan's undertaking establishment. The funeral will take place tomorrow, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence of W. J. Mulvenon. Friends and acquaintances of the deceased are respectfully invited. ------------------------------------ Weekly Journal-Miner, Prescott, Arizona Territory Wednesday, March 30, 1898, page 3, column 5 (From Saturday's Daily) The funeral of the late Hughey Mulvenon yesterday afternoon was one of the largest seen in Prescott for months. The fire department turned out in a body to pay their last sad respects to their late brother. Services were held over the remains at the Catholic church by Rev. Father Quetu. Transcriber's note: Mr. Mulvenon was originally buried at the Citizens Cemetery in Prescott, Arizona. He was later removed to the Mount Cavalry Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. |
