John Jonathan Byler

John Byler, age 82, went home to Jesus on October 10, 2009. He was born and raised Amish in Mt. Easton, Ohio on June 28, 1927. John moved his family to Phoenix, Arizona in 1969. He drove truck for Ray Lumber for several years. John and Gerry owned the Grubstake Restaurant until 1979. They moved to Black Canyon City, AZ in 1999.

John is survived by his wife, Jemima (Gerry) Byler of Black Canyon City, Daughter, Linda Sortor and Family of Black Canyon City, John Byler Jr. and Family of Tucson, and James (Jim) Byler of Black Canyon City, Nine Grandchildren, and Nine Great Grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruth Ann Torrie in 2001 and Grandson, Andy John Byler in 2003.

He was a kind and wonderful man and he will be greatly missed by family and all who knew him.

Visitation on Friday, October 16 at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary at 200 West Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services, Saturday October 17 at Black Canyon City Community Church at 1:00 p.m.
