Bryant Keith "Turtle" Cosen died in the early morning hours of Friday, May 15, 2009, at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa following a lengthy illness at the age of 36. He was born on April 23, 1973, in Whiteriver. Following his high school graduation from Ganado High "Class of 1991." Bryant attended a year of Haskell Indian Junior College, now known as Haskell University, where he played football. He then began working as a mechanic, where he was a "jack-of-all-trades," and continued in the construction industry for the rest of his life. He is survived by his sons, Tyler Cameron Cosen and Sheldon Sharky Beach; parents John and Neva Cosen; stepmother Bertha Tortice; sisters Perlinda Cosen, Lana Cosen, Bernie Cosen-Sprengeler, Doreen Clay, Lorinda Thompson, Jennifer Tortice, Derlene Tortice and Taddie Tortice. Bryant's earthly remains were taken back to his home in Turkey Creek for a public wake Wednesday, May 20. Funeral services were Friday, May 22, also at his home. Bryant will be laid to rest at the Canyon Day Cemetery in Canyon Day. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
