Jean Lentz Rehfeld, 87, died peacefully April 29, 2009, in Scottsdale. She was born to Jacob and Geraldine Lentz Sept. 28, 1921, in Jefferson, Ohio. Her family moved to Phoenix when she was young and she graduated from Scottsdale High in 1939. She went to college in San Diego, Calif., where she met her future husband, Robert, while he was serving in the Navy. They married in 1945 and moved to San Francisco. They made an improbable move to McNary in 1950. Two years later they moved permanently to Phoenix, but Jean and Robert kept a second home in Pinetop for many years. Jean loved the arts and was a lifelong supporter of Phoenix's musical theatre, symphony, opera and dance organizations, serving both on their boards and helping to produce shows. She nurtured many young artists over the years. She was known to many as the lady with the feathers in her hair, the Checker station-wagon and the great parties. She was a unique, vibrant and loving woman who will greatly be missed. She was preceded in death by husband Robert, son Robert Jr. and sister Margie. She is survived by her sons, James of Phoenix and Thomas (Amy) and their two sons Jacob and William of Albuquerque, N.M., and nephew Brian Stockton of Phoenix. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at AL Moore, 710 W Bethany Home Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Arizona.
