Published in Today's News-Herald on Dec. 13, 2018 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Fern Louise Neuneker passed away peacefully in Lake Havasu City on December 2, 2018 at the age of 101. She was born on October 3, 1917 to Louie and Jennie (Nelson) Van Horn in Larned, KS. Fern came out west to California at the end of the Great Dust Bowl where she met and married Donald Beck. Two children were produced of this union. In 1967 she married Charles Neuneker. She and Charlie camped, hunted and fished throughout California for many years until they moved to Lake Havasu City in 1994. After Charlie passed away in 2008 she moved to Prestige Claremont Assisted Living where she made many friends of the staff and residents. She is survived by her son, Richard (Connie) Beck, daughter Linda (Ernest) Suchy, and stepson Charles (Donna) Neuneker; grandchildren Kelly Beck Brooks, Jennifer Beck Foley, Derek Suchy (deceased), Daniel Suchy; great grandchildren Erica Scarbrough Spencer, Chad Brooks, Jessie Neagle, Jake Neagle; great great grandchildren Addison and Riley Scarbrough. A memorial service and interment will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego where she will be laid to rest next to Charlie.
