FRIESTAD, David Edward David Edward Friestad, 61, died August 28, 2004 in Scottsdale, AZ. He was born July 10, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Leonard and Geraldine Friestad. He spent the majority of his life in the service of our country. David was a highly decorated United States Air Force "Fighter" Pilot who served two tours in Viet Nam. While in Viet Nam on his first tour he flew F-4's with the Triple Nickle Fighter Squadron. On his second tour he flew the A1 Sky Raider with the Sandy's. David was awarded the Silver Star, Four Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Purple Hearts and 38 other air medals. David also held a PhD in Criminology and was a tenured professor at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. He is survived by his wife, Carla, daughter, Brandy Sunshine of Tempe, AZ, sons; David and Jerry Friestad of Scottsdale, AZ, sister, Marion Friestad of Eugene, Oregon and brother, Roland Friestad of Galesburg, Illinois. Funeral services and burial were held on Friday, November 5, 2004, at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the Desert Mountain High School Wrestling Team, at 12575 E Via Linda, Scottsdale, AZ 85259.
