BENICIA, Calif. - James H. "Jim" Davis, 65, of Benicia died July 25, 2006 at home. Mr. Davis was born Nov. 17, 1940 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and was a son of James Leo and Vera Davis. He attended Arizona State University and obtained a bachelor's degree in English and a master's in education. He taught language arts and coached basketball in the Glendale Union High School District and took his team to the state finals in 1972-73. He was a regional sales manager for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich from 1982-05 and became a district sales manager in Southern California for Pearson Scott Foresman in 2005. Survivors include his wife, Jeri; five children; his mother, Vera Snelson of Coolidge; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Ruth.
