Donald Edwin Zum Mallen, 78, of Cornville died April 29. He was born August 4, 1926 in Cresent City, Illinois.

He was still working as a rancher. He previously had worked as a dairyman at the Zum Mallen Dairy in Glendale, Ariz.

He had a love of organic gardening and was a member of the organic gardening club of the Verde Valley. He also was the love of his family.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Barbara; sons, Edwin of Santa Rosa, Calif., David of Bridgeport, Ariz., Phillip of Cornville, Ariz. and Matthew of Nixa, Mo.; daughters, Wanda of Sedona and Laura Pollock of Cottonwood; brothers, Walter of Show Low, Ariz. and Bernard of San Antonio, Texas; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Three children Eric, Wayne and Diane Haynie preceded Don in death and three brothers, Herbert, Albert and Lorenz and a sister Alma.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28 at the Zum Mallen Ranch in Cornville. Memorial donations may be made to the Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S. Candy lane, Cottonwood 86326 or to a church of your faith.
