Published in Today's News-Herald on Feb. 17, 2019 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Virginia Selby Kackert: Gini, passed away Jan. 15, 2019 at Polidori House in Lake Havasu City with her loving family by her bedside. She was a third generation California native, born in Ventura in 1938 to her parents, Wm. T. Selby and Millicent Selby. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Kackert, children Andrea Skinner, of Chico, Ca., Deirdre Emery and Kimberlee Burris, both of Ojai, Ca., Scott Hagemann, of Ventura, Ca., Paul Kackert, of Thousand Oaks, Ca., and Kristine Thorpe. of Ft. Worth, Tx. Gini is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Gini was multitalented. She cooked, sewed, designed and created wonderful things with her mind and hands. She loved to boat and water ski, and garden. Gini also enjoyed spending summers at her summer home in Tehachapi, Ca. where she and Tom created a beautiful summer retreat. Most of all she was a great mother and wife.
