Officer's Life Lost In Flames

FORT DIX, N.J., Feb. 29--(AP)
One officer died and two others were injured or burned early today when fire of undetermined origin razed a 40-room barracks for bachelor officers at this army camp.

The body of Lt. Wallace I. Adams, 26 years old, of Etowah, Tenn., was found under his bunk after the fire. Authorities said a preliminary investigation indicated he suffocated.

Capt. William H. Washburn, 43, of Boston, was treated for shock and multiple lacerations of one hand and forearm. He was confined to a hospital. Lt. Herbert Adler, 20, of Brooklyn, was treated for first degree burns on the face and released.
