| Nora Lea McKinnon Born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on June 4, 1912. Departed on Aug. 7, 2006 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. Nora Lea McKinnon, 94, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away Monday, August 7, 2006 at her home with her family surrounding her. She was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma on June 4, 1912 to William Harvey and Eliza May (Minter) House. Nora attended her childhood school years in the areas of Great Divide and Craig, Colorado. She was a 1931 high school graduate. Nora was an ambitious individual, always holding two jobs. She was employed as a contract cleaner for the United States Post Office until she took her retirement at the age of 78. During this time she was also employed in housekeeping at Marcus J. Lawrence Memorial Hospital and medical offices of Dr. Cranmer, Dr. Bright and Dr. Bill. She did housekeeping and personal attendant care at Culver’s Trailer Park and Sales, the Patterson Family’s home and other individuals who needed her services. Nora was honored to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved serving others – Nora crocheted topical bandages for leper patients. Estimated counts of 2,000 bandages were sent to Phoenix for distribution through the church’s humanities department. She made quilts for her family and numerous other ones to be distributed through humanitarian services. She also found great joy in the church positions that she was called to; Visiting Teaching Supervisor and Primary Worker. She labored in the family record extraction program. She did temple work for her own family. Nora loved her family, raising her 6 children on the McKinnon homestead in Colorado with her husband. She was always cooking for the family, for hunting parties, hay crews and a multitude of others that showed up at the door. She was also a seamstress, ranch hand and help mate at any time that was needed on the ranch. She is preceded 35 years in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Allan McKinnon; her son, Allan Donald McKinnon; her daughter, Marilyn Kennedy Hickman along with Marilyn’s first husband, Gary Kennedy and second husband, Robert Hickman. She is also preceded by two other son-in-laws, Oscar McFarlin and Wilbur Rehfeld; as well as, two grandsons, Karl McFarlin and Bryan Rehfeld. Nora leaves behind four daughters, LaVeta Lea Martin, husband Earl, Craig, Colo., Donelda Rehfeld, Brighton, Colo., Alrena McKinnon, Cottonwood, Ariz., and Alice Mae Stack, husband Timothy, Concho, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Michele McKinnon of Grand Junction, Colo.; 24 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, August 11, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave., in Cottonwood, Arizona. Funeral Services will follow Saturday morning, August 12, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. – and will also be held at Westcott Funeral Home. Nora will be laid to rest in the Cottonwood Cemetery immediately following the service, after which family and close friends are invited to a luncheon at the LDS Church, 1377 E Hombre Drive, Cottonwood, Ariz.
