George Summers
(February 06, 1928 - February 22, 2019)

George Summers, age 91, passed away on February 22, 2019 in Surprise, Arizona. George was born February 6, 1928 in Sac City, Iowa to George & Lettie Summers, the youngest of 10 children. He served in the U.S. Navy, and began his working life in the wholesale meat business. Through a series of coincidences in the early '70s he moved to Northern California, met his wife Jane, and began life as a rancher, and became with Jane, the founders of a residential private school. When the Summers retired from the private school business, they moved on to life in Oregon, first as ranch and resort managers, and then as very active volunteers in the state park system. George spent almost 16 years with Jane as a full time RVer, enjoying his hobbies of bird hunting, fishing, and playing tennis. In 2004 they moved to Congress, AZ where George became known in his neighborhood as the guy with the tractor who maintained the dirt access road. His other signature achievement was as a hugely successful grower of tomatoes in his greenhouse.

George is survived by his wife Jane, his five children Curt Summers, Robin Brown, Cheryl Lane, Teresa Richardson, and Brian Summers, by eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Family services will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials in George's memory be made to K9 Connection on 60 south of Wickenburg.
