James Balagna Born in Wilsonville, Illinois on June 25, 1923. Departed on Dec. 19, 2006 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona. James Balagna, 83, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away in Flagstaff on Tuesday, December 19, 2006. He was born on June 25, 1923 to Ernesto and Madalena (Biaggio) Balagna in Wilsonville, Illinois, where he grew up and attended the local schools until he was in the 10th grade, upon which time, he left to help support his family even though he had been double promoted. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Marine Corp as a Private First Class and paratrooper. Following which, James worked as a journeyman painter until his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling and loved to explore the country in his camper. James will be remembered and loved for his unselfish generosity, his passion for family, and his constant willingness to help those in need. He leaves behind two sons, Daniel J. Balagna, wife Jean, Naples, Fla., and Kenneth D. Balagna of Sedona, Ariz.; his daughter, Linda Marie Balagna of Downey, Calif.; his brother, Donald Balagna of Detroit, Mich.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
