Janice Powell passed away suddenly, May 19, 2019, in Wickenburg, Arizona. She was born on Friday the 13th of August 1942, in Douglas, Mich., to Vernon and Hazel (Atkins) Whitemyer. She is survived by her brothers Ron and Rob; daughter Leslie Terhorst; son Dale Krouse; son-in-law Brian Terhorst; grandchildren Travis, Alicia, Kendall, Anthony, Andrew and great-grandson Arthur. We can't forget her fur babies Bella Luna (dog) and Blu the cat.

Jan had lived all over the United States when she landed in San Diego for nearly 30 years. This is where she met the love of her life Clark Powell and they married Nov. 12, 2003. In 2006 they packed up everything and moved to Wickenburg.

Jan loved living in Wickenburg where she worked as a caregiver, helping many people in the final stages of life. "She was a wonderful caregiver and loved by all," said her good friend Sandra. She also loved working for the Del E. Webb Center during the summers with Camp Imagination. She loved working with the kids and encouraged them to expand their minds through theatre, arts, crafts and even cooking. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women (BPW) since 2013, where she made many strong and lasting friendships. She also volunteered at several places around town including the Wise Owl Senior Center, The Registrar of Voters, Hospice of the Valley and the Wickenburg Dog Park.

Jan loved seahorses. She had one of the most extensive collections on the planet (including the sea). Anyone that knew her at some point in time has gifted her a seahorse. She remembered where every seahorse came from. She also loved her crafts, which included sewing, crocheting, sculpting and hand-making greeting and postcards from pictures her husband Clark had taken of the town of Wickenburg. They even started a business called Sea Country Images. You could often find her selling her crafts at local fairs, churches and online.

She will be sincerely missed.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 1, at the Wickenburg Funeral Home 187 N. Adams St., Wickenburg, AZ 85390.
