Frances Indora (Newman) Houck

Funeral services for Mrs. Frances I. Houck, 89, Arizona pioneer who died yesterday, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Memory Chapel, A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary, 333 W. Adams.

The Rev. Logan E. Houser will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Born in Prairie City, Ore., Mrs. Houck came to Arizona when she was 9 years old. Her parents were members of a wagon train. She rode a horse most of the way from Oregon to Prescott where the family located. After marriage, she moved to the Upper Verde Valley where she lived until 1945 when she moved to Phoenix. She resided at 5017 N. 16th Ave.

She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She also was a member of the Arizona Pioneer Association and attended many of the pioneer reunions.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Emma May Scott, Phoenix; a son, John William Baillie, Higley; a sister, Mrs. Emma Leslie, Flagstaff; and a brother, George Gibbons, Prescott. Also surviving are two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
