Gerald (Jerry) Edwin Johnson

Gerald (Jerry) Edwin Johnson Sr., husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend to many, passed away May 20, 2009, in Tucson.

Jerry was born Oct. 31, 1930, to Halford Johnson and Irma Geraldine Wadman. He proudly served in the Marine Corps in WWI and in the U.S. Army in Korea.

He loved life, playing golf, basketball, poker and being with his family. In his early years, Jerry played semipro basketball for Anchor Hocking and the Fort Wayne Pistons, which later became the Detroit Pro team, and was a golf pro (and PGA card holder) at Queen Valley.

For many years, he was a top Southwest producer and award winner for the auto industry. In his later years, he owned and operated a hotel in Arizona, made beautiful Indian jewelry and basked in his love of the Arizona sun.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Irma and Halford; brother Gene; father-in-law Jack Turner; and mother-in-law Imogene Turner. He is survived by life mate Mary Helen Johnson; and his children, Carla, Eddie, Shannon and Rex; brothers Chuck and George; sisters-in-law Debbie Turner and Joyce Mace; brother-in-law Fred Turner; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

A memorial service was held in his honor on Memorial Day. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
