Bradford Allyn Kath, 48, of Phoenix formerly of Gering, died December 7, 2000 at Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City AZ. of a massive heart attack.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 11, 2000 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Grams officiating.

Interment in Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Panhandle Mental Health Center, Regional West Medical Center or the donor's choice.

He was born Dec. 27, 1951 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Robert Dean and Bessie (Platz) Kath. He was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Sterling, CO. He attended schools in Moses Lake WA, Sterling CO and graduated from Gering High School in 1970. He also attended Hiram Scott College and Nebraska Western College.

He was known as "Bird" to his family. Brad loved music and played the piano as his favorite pasttime. He wrote music and poetry about family and the times in his life. He played bass guitar with several local bands including Hilz Brothers, Jay Lewis and the Dynamics. Brad suffered from schizophrenia all of his adult life and struggled with emotional and behavioral disturbances. At last, he is at peace in the arms of his Lord and the struggle has ended.

Survivors include his mother, Bessie Kath of Sun City, AZ; brother, Curtis R. Kath of Cape Coral, FL; brother and sister-in-law, R. Scott and Meg Kath of Powell, WY; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Bill Trumbull of Scottsbluff; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert on December 23, 1999, and his grandparents.
