Samuel G. Rogers passed away May 24, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz.

Raised in Glendale, Ariz., he is survived by his daughter Beatrice Underwood (Paul) of Falmouth, England, and their two children, Zoe and Jake; his son, Alexander Rogers (Maureen) of Munich, Germany, and their daughter Theresia. He is also survived by his sister Peggy (Rogers) Russell of Fischer, Ind.

Final farewell with Masons and military honors by Post #6 will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, niche-side at the Prescott National Cemetery on Highway 69 in Prescott.

Samuel G. Rogers

Samuel Rogers passed away May 24, 2009. He was born November 29, 1928 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1946 after leaving Glendale High School at the Age of 17. He served his Country faithfully for nearly 28 years and achieved the rank of Command Sergeant Major for NATO in Europe. He served in Germany, Korea, Vietnam and Panama at various times throughout his distinguished carrier. Among other commendations and awards he received were the Combat Infantry Badge, a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal with 6 Loops, the World War 11 Victory Medal, the Occupation Medal, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Gallantry Cross with Palm Leaf. He was an Airborne Ranger and a member of Special Forces for which he was extremely proud.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rita in 1982, his parents, Joseph and Dora, his brothers, Joseph and Carl Rogers, and his sister, Hilda (Rogers) Chisholm.

He is survived by his sister, Peggy (Rogers) Russell of Fischer, Indiana, his daughter, Beatrice Underwood of Falmouth, England and his son, Alexander Rogers of Munich, Germany, Beatrice’s husband, Paul, and their two children Zoe and Jake, and Alexander’s wife Maureen and their daughter Theresia, and his companion, Pam Anderson of Prescott Valley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam has resided in Dewey, Arizona for over eleven years. He was an active member of the Mason’s with the Muenster Lodge No 831 located in Germany and was a member of the El Zaribah Shrine located in Phoenix, Arizona; Aahmes Shriners in Livermore, Calif.; a Life member of the Eurpoean Shrine Club and was current President of the El Zaribah Hi Country Rebels and was a member of the American Legion Post 78 in Humboldt, Arizona.

He was also a member the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Elks. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in Sam’s name to: Shriners Children’s Hospital, c/o El Zaribah Shrine, 552 N. 40th Street, Phoenix, Ariz., 85008.
