Eric Hagstrom was born April 30, 1934 to Arvid and Signe Hagstrom on a farm in Marby, Sweden. He left us on May 24, 2009, while living in Prescott, Arizona, shortly after his 75th birthday. He worked in the forest as a lumberjack for several years before he attended electronics school for 2 years and became an electronics technician for the Swedish Air Force. His job was to troubleshoot equipment for the Blood Hound Missile system.

He met his wife, Carolyn, while visiting his sister in California. They were married in Sweden in 1972. Eric immigrated to the USA several months later and eventually became an American citizen. He enjoyed hiking, jogging, carpentry, and traveling. Eric had a friendly, outgoing personality and a good sense of humor. He could easily strike up a conversation with anyone. No one was a stranger.

His mother, Signe Karlsson; father, Arvid Hagstrom; brothers: Folke and Roland Hagstrom and sister, Ruth Halquist all preceded Eric in death. Eric is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of 36 years; his sister, May Blum and brother-in-law, Bo Blum; three nieces, five nephews and their children.

A service for Eric will be on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 10am at the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel, 240 S. Cortez St, Prescott. Flowers will be gladly received or, if you prefer, a donation may be made to Granite Mountain Home Care & Hospice, 3107 Clearwater Dr., Prescott, Ariz., 86305.
