Jacquelyn Elizabeth Mrgudich, cherished by her family and friends, passed gently from this world on June 1, 2009.

Jackie grew up in Tennessee and Florida and defined the term "Southern gentlewoman" in her every action and kind word. She was born in Hohenwald, Tenn., Oct. 25, 1922, attended Miami High School and received her Registered Nurse education at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Seeking adventure, she traveled to Hawaii and worked at the Children's Hospital in Honolulu. In Hawaii she met the love of her life, LCDR John Mrgudich, a Navy pilot. They shared 60 years together, traveling the world, raising their children and building their dream house in Prescott, Ariz.

Jackie is survived by her devoted husband and caregiver, John; her two daughters, Jan Calland of Carrboro, N.C., and Lisa (Randy) Johnson of Holbrook, Ariz.; her two grandchildren, Nicholas Calland and Sara Calland; and her five siblings.

Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Pinal Cemetery (Croatian section), Central Heights, Globe, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Family Hospice Centers.

Services for Jacquelyn Elizabeth Mrgudich were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services, 237 S. Sutherland St., Globe, Ariz., 85501.
