Myra Feuerriegel, devoted wife and mother, age 95, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away on May 30, 2009.

Myra was born in Globe, Ariz., on Aug. 26, 1913, to John and Zadie Lockway. She was raised in the small mining town of Copper Hill, was a member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls and graduated from Globe High School before her family moved to Phoenix. In Phoenix, Myra went to work for the Vance (later Rainbo) bakery where she met and married her husband of 71 years, the late Karl "Redhead" Feuerriegel of Phoenix. During World War II, while Karl was assigned to the European Theater as a bomber pilot, Myra served as a Red Cross volunteer (Gray Lady) and was recognized for her meritorious service during the war by President Truman. Myra continued her volunteer service with the Red Cross for several years following the war.

During her husband's thirty-one years of military service, Myra raised two children while meeting the demanding challenges as a military wife and mother which included frequent periods of separation from her husband and innumerable household moves both within the states and abroad. Following Karl's retirement from the Air Force in 1974, the couple returned to Phoenix where they lived until they moved to Dewey, Ariz. in 1987. Myra has lived in Prescott, Ariz. since February 2004.

She is survived by her daughter Judith Ann Butzine of Phoenix; her son John Karl of Dewey; her sister Ruth Woodward of Phoenix; and her brother Howard Lockway of Cornville, Ariz. Myra has four grandchildren, Paul Hillman of Phoenix, Kristin Fukuchi of Denver, Michael Butzine attending U. of Hawaii, and Kristin Cowles of Bakersfield, Calif. She also has one great-grandchild, Ryan Taylor Walker of Bakersfield, Calif.

Myra will be inurned with her husband Karl at the Prescott National Cemetery Columbarium. Services will be conducted there at 10 o'clock on June 16, 2009.

Final arrangements were entrusted to the Hampton Funeral Home. Please visit www.hamptonfuneralhome.com to sign Myra's guestbook.
