Samuel Richardson (Dick) Allen

Dick Allan died Thursday, June 11, 2009, in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was born Sept. 21, 1927, in Phoenix, Ariz., the son of George R. Allan and Eleanor (Cotton) Allan. Dick was 81 years old.

Dick was a lifelong resident of Arizona, spending the majority of his life in Prescott, Ariz. He was a 1948 graduate of Prescott High School. Dick worked for 35 years at what was started as Mountain Bell phone company. He was a member of the Prescott Elks Lodge 330, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Telephone Pioneers, The Westerners, The Yavapai Democratic Party, a life member of the Sharlot Hall Museum, and the Prescott Saddle Club. Dick loved hunting, horse racing, and raising and riding horses. He was most proud of his loving wife Marty, his daughter, and his family.

Dick is survived by his loving wife Marty of 53 years; daughter Candy (Ken) Shea of Gilbert, Ariz.; nieces Sharon (Denis) Dalke of Prescott, Phyllis Rheem of Scottsdale, Jane (Elias) Bais of Chino Valley, and Gibert Osborne of Prescott; nephew George Robert (Deb) Allan of Chino Valley; and grandson Shawn Shea of Gilbert. Survivors also include many great-nieces and great-nephews, and many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, George R. Allan, and sister Patricia Osborne.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 17, 2009, from 5-7 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott.

Mass will be Thursday, June 18, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury St., Prescott, Ariz.

Private inurnment will be at a later date at the Prescott National Memorial Cemetery, Prescott.
