John Douglas Moore October 5, 1939 ~ June 1, 2020 John Douglas Moore died June 1,2020 at the age of 80 at Summa Care- Tempe after a long illness. He was a professor emeritus in the ASU School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. Dr. Moore was born in Austin, Texas to Edith and JD Moore. He taught mathematics at SUNY at Oswego for 2 years and at ASU for 41 years. His degrees in physics were a BS from Idaho State U , and MS's from Idaho State U and from Syracuse U. He received a Ph.D. in mathematics from Syracuse U in 1969. He published 8 mathematical papers and supervised 2 Ph.D. students: Edwin Hewett and Harold Bowman in 1972. He played viola in the Tempe Symphony Orchestra for 27 years (Fall, 1981-Spring, 2009) and maintained a web site on the genealogy of some of the families from Monroe County, Kentucky and neighboring counties. He was in the army's basic training and reserve (June, 1959-May 31, 1965) He is survived by his wife: Nadine Moore See Also: Find A Grave |
