The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Tuesday, June 09, 2009 John Scott, 96, of Cottonwood died June 7. He was born February 2, 1913 in Edinburgh, Scotland, the son of James and Mary Scott. He was a graduate of Ryder College and served his country as a sergeant first class in the Army during World War II. He fought in the Normandy campaign. Mr. Scott was a drummer in jazz bands, playing with Dizzy Gillespie and Gene Krupa. He was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and also enjoyed cycling and of course the drums. He leaves his sons John Kenneth Scott of Maine and David Glenn Scott (Patricia) of California; granddaughters, Jaime Leah Happ (Brian) of California and Samantha J. Scott. A memorial service was held on June 9 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 4 p.m..
