Arthur Melvin Baker was born October 16, 1919 to Edith and Virgil Baker in Ashtabula, Ohio. He had four sisters and brothers, Arthur was the oldest.

He graduated in 1939 from Ashtabula High School. He served at C.C.C. Camps in Priest River, Idaho and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio for two years.

Arthur met and married Viola Showers in 1941 in Akron, Ohio. He served in the United States Air Corps from 1942-1945 in the South Pacific Area.

He retired from the Arizona Department of Transportation at the Inspection Station in Page, Arizona.

Arthur loved music, sports and his family.

Arthur had two children; his daughter, Cathy Baker of Cottonwood, Ariz. and his son, Bruce with his wife, Kate, of Parachute, Colo.

He loved his grandchildren; his granddaughter, Danielle, husband, Brian Martinez, Englewood, Colo.; his grandson, Jordan, wife, Shellie Baker, Camp Verde, Ariz.; and three great-grandchildren, Josh and Mike Martinez and Tanner Baker.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 2:00pm at the United Methodist Church, 901 S. 12th Street in Cottonwood, Arizona.
