Joseph H. Cassidy

Born in Joplin, Missouri on Sept. 27, 1923.
Departed on March 18, 2006 and resided in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Joseph H. Cassidy, age 82, resident of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2006. Joe was born in Joplin, Missouri on September 27, 1923 to Emmett and Ethel (Harryman) Cassidy.

It was in Casey, Illinois while Joe was just a young man, of High School years, that he met Ruth Tyhurst. Despite his young age, he knew from that moment on she would not only be his High School Sweetheart, but his Love for All Life. In 1942 they married.

Joe served overseas in India as a Corporal for the United States Army Air Corps during WWII.

Joe and Ruth moved to California in 1946, where they raised their two beautiful daughters. Joe worked for Uniroyal Tires, where he started out as a Tire Maker, and by the time he took his retirement many years later, he left the company as Quality Control Supervisor. As Supervisor, Joe missed the hands-on work he had become so good at, but he did enjoy being a mentor to those under him.

Following his retirement, Joe and Ruth decided to move somewhere that provided more space and openness. In September of 1992 they made Cottonwood, Arizona their final home. How they loved the desert.

While in Cottonwood, Joe was able to regularly enjoy one of his favorite pastimes..."Cowboy Shootin" in the desert! He and his shooting Buddies had created these "metal varmint targets"...and even still, he could knock down quite a few! Joe’s interest in guns also included reloading his own ammunition and attending gun shows!

His daughters would describe their Dad as a "Man's Man", but a "Gentle, Gentleman". He loved his family and his friends, and he appreciated the value they gave his life.

On February 8th of this very year, Joe's sweet bride, his lifelong love, his partner and companion of 63 years, left this world...and his physical side. With her, she must have taken part of his heart, because to him, a part was literally lost. He went to find it, because where it was, she would be also.

Along side Ruth, he will also be greeted by his parents and his brother, Floyd Cassidy.

Per his request, there will be no services...and so, please, just remember him as he was...

The loving father of Judy Kunow of West Jordan, Utah and Peggy Lartz with husband, Art, of St. Joseph, Missouri.

The adored grandfather of Tracy Gasu, Utah, Adam Carpent, Oregon, Army SSGT Josh Carpenter, Germany, and Carrie Stewart, Missouri.

The wonderful great-grandfather of 11

The sweet brother of Elnora Walker with husband, Bob of California.

A cherished friend to so many throughout his life, but most of all ... and still ... a devoted husband

Thank you Dad and Mom...Love DOES Last FOREVER.
