Published in Today's News Herald on Jan. 8, 2021 - Lake Haavasu City, Arizona - Elizabeth (Libby) Rorke passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021. Her independence was cut short in November 2019; she was in hospital thereafter. She suffered with MS, diagnosed in 1980. Libby was an inspiration with her determination to enjoy life! Libby was born and died in Edmonton, Alberta; she was a registered nurse who worked until she was confined to a wheelchair in 1982. Libby was predeceased by her partner Earl (Skip) Henricks, and her parents Bill Rorke and Margaret Moxam. She would often travel with her mother to Edmonton from Lake Havasu City, where she resided. She was a proud supporter of Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). In years past, Libby and her service dogs were trained with many commands to conserve independence. Libby was a devout Roman Catholic; she was anointed by Pope John Paul II twice, once in Edmonton (1984), and again in Lake Havasu City (1987). She was interviewed in the Havasu Herald: saying that the blessing left her with a lasting feeling of inner peace. There is no funeral service as per Libby's wishes.
