Lake Haavasu City, Arizona -
Elizabeth (Libby) Rorke passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021.
Her independence was cut short in November 2019; she was in hospital
thereafter. She suffered with MS, diagnosed in 1980. Libby was an
inspiration with her determination to enjoy life! Libby was born and
died in Edmonton, Alberta; she was a registered nurse who worked until
she was confined to a wheelchair in 1982.
Libby was predeceased by her partner Earl (Skip) Henricks, and her
parents Bill Rorke and Margaret Moxam. She would often travel with her
mother to Edmonton from Lake Havasu City, where she resided. She was a
proud supporter of Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). In years
past, Libby and her service dogs were trained with many commands to
conserve independence. Libby was a devout Roman Catholic; she was
anointed by Pope John Paul II twice, once in Edmonton (1984), and
again in Lake Havasu City (1987).
She was interviewed in the Havasu Herald: saying that the blessing
left her with a lasting feeling of inner peace. There is no funeral
service as per Libby's wishes. In lieu of flowers consider donating to
a charity of your choice.
