Nancy Ellen Schubert, 60, a resident of Sedona passed On April 28, 2006. Nancy was the wife of Emil Schubert for 39 years, the mother of three children and grandmother of four. She was born June 25, 1945 and grew up in Chicago, Illinois, attended St. Benedicts High School and received a bachelor of fine arts from Mundelein college.

She valiantly battled ovarian cancer for one and half years. During that time Nancy always kept a positive attitude while continuing to work as a real estate agent for Century 21. The holiday memories Nancy created will never be forgotten by all who knew her.

She was a pilot and the winner of many awards for her professional pastry creations. She was an entrepreneur and owned her own business in Chicago for many years. She loved Sedona and the red rocks and was a member of the Sedona Arts and Cultural Commission. Those who knew her could not forget her keen interest in politics and her spirited conversations with friends and family.

Her family was gathered around her bedside as she made her way home to her Heavenly Father. Nancy’s courage and strength will forever be remembered by her family who traveled from the midwest, the south and the west to say goodbye to a lady who loved and lived life to the fullest.

Nancy has left quite a legacy and will be missed more than we can say by family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Emil J. Schubert, son, James Schubert, wife Ellen, daughters, Erin Henes, husband Michael, Shannon Schubert. She has four grandchildren, Daniel and Brian Schubert and Emilie and Eoan Henes, her sister Michele Stanley and husband Merrill and her brother John Nugent and wife Celine.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 30 in the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood from 5-7. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday May 1st in St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Arizona Cancer Center-Arizona Foundation, c/o Dr. David Alberts Cancer Center, 1515 N. Campbell Ave., Tucson, Ariz., 85724.
