Charles H. Walker

Born in Erie, Pennsylvania on May 24, 1911.
Departed on April 8, 2006 and resided in Clarkdale, Arizona.

Charles H. "Charlie" Walker went to be with his God early in the morning of Saturday, April 8, 2006. He was born on May 24, 1911, and for all of his ninety-four years, he shared his smile, dignity, love, gentleness, and strength with all who met him. His family, friends, caregivers, and even those who met him casually even once, responded to his joy of life. Charlie was a quietly religious man who lived his spirituality, rather than preaching to others.

Charlie was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, and when he was a young lad, his father moved the family to California.

Charlie became a master sheet-metal worker and during World War II, he worked on a submarine based in Panama. Following the war, he returned with his family in California, and became a much sought after craftsman for the Hollywood Stars of the day.

He and his third wife, Helena Walker, moved to the Verde Valley in June of 1991. They purchased a home on Sandy Lane in Unit 6 in Cottonwood and loved there until Helena's death in 1998. Charlie then bought a home in Clarkdale where he lived until his death.

Mr. Walker was a loving son, father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Charlie is survived by a son, David, wife Eileen, of Calif.; grandchildren, Kevin, wife Jennifer, Richard, Keith, Cynthiia, Denise and Aaron. Charlie was blessed with a number of great-grandchildren.

Charlie was predeceased by his son, John; and his three wives, Margaret Mezena Walker, Doris Becker Walker and Viola Helena Croft Walker.

He will be tremendously missed by his loving dogs; Trixie and Dolly.

No public services are planned.
