Published in Today's News Herald on May 13, 2021 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - On Friday, May 7th, 2021, Jeff Whitaker, loving husband, father and papa, passed away at the age of 67. Jeff was a private person and we understand this will come as a surprise to some. Jeff was born on Nov.9, 1953, and raised in Fullerton, California where he was an Eagle Scout, swam for the swim team and water polo team. This led him to become a lifeguard for nine years at Huntington State Beach. Jeff earned his bachelor's degree in political science at Cal Poly Pomona, then his master's degree in business administration at Cal State Fullerton. Jeff and Leslie were wed on June 5, 1976. They had their first date when Jeff was 15 and Leslie was 13 where Jeff's dad drove them to Disneyland. Their favorite way to spend vacations was going on cruises, and since 1986 relaxing at Lake Havasu with their two boys, Bret and Bryce and many friends. Jeff worked for Burroughs Business Forms, then was a project manager at Muhlhauser Steel Inc. He then worked for Orange County Erectors. Jeff retired in 2018 to beautiful Lake Havasu City. Jeff loves his wife and family unconditionally. He gave his sons the tools to navigate this world with strength and love through taking them camping, backpacking, biking, boating and paintball. This gave Bret a passion for the outdoors and it gave Bryce the tools to be a team leader in his career. Jeff made it a priority to be with his family and give them these gifts. Bret and Bryce will be taking what they learned from their dad as they build their families. Jeff trusted God and wants people to see this journey as a walk of faith. He continually asked Leslie, "What is the definition of faith?" This is his favorite verse, Hebrews 11:1. His family looks forward to the day they will hug him again together for eternity.
