Darlene K. Newman Born in Sioux City, Iowa on Oct. 6, 1935. Departed on Feb. 18, 2008 and resided in Sedona, Arizona. Darlene K. Newman, 72, of Sedona died Saturday, February 16. She was born October 6, 1935 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Kriv. A graduate of the Sioux City Public Schools, she went on to study at the University of Minnesota. She was a very creative person, she worked as an art teacher, designer, artist and a homemaker. Her works were displayed in galleries and art fairs. Mrs. Newman was a member of the Jewish Community of Sedona and Verde Valley. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She leaves her devoted husband of 52 years, Harry L. Newman; a son, Robert Newman, wife Debbie, Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter Michelle Newman, husband Louis Castonguay, State College, Penn.; a brother Harold Kriv, wife Estelle, Skokie, Ill.; a sister, Reva Schwartz, husband Michael, Deerfield, Ill. and one grandson, David. A funeral service was held Sunday, February 17 at the Jewish Community Center of Sedona and the Verde Valley. Burial followed in the Sedona Community Cemetery. A Shiva will be held at the Newman home Monday through Thursday. Call Sue Schurgin at 284-9371 for information.
