Born in Jerome, Arizona on Feb. 22, 1914.
Departed on Jan. 28, 2007 and resided in Clarkdale, Arizona.

Matt F. Pecharich of Clarkdale passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2007. Matt was born in Jerome on February 22, 1914 to Joseph and Mary Pecharich.

Matt graduated from Jerome High School in 1932 where he was a star member of the Tennis team.

Matt met his wife Eva in Jerome and they married in 1940. After spending several years working for the JC Penney Company in Clifton, Arizona and Silver City, New Mexico, Matt returned to the Verde Valley in 1958 and opened the Snow Cap Drive-in with partners Cherry and Norma Wombacher. In 1959 Matt and Eva opened the 10-12 Cocktail Lounge where he was well known for his singing, dancing, and special mixed drinks.

Matt especially enjoyed hunting and tending to his mining claims and rose bushes. He served on the Clarkdale-Jerome School Board for over 20 years, and was active in the Kiwanis, Elks, Knights of Columbus, and the Arizona Liquor Association.

Matt is survived by his daughter Edith Lindner, sons Robert and Phil Pecharich, daughters-in-law Diane and Brenda, grandchildren Michael Lindner, Cheri (Keith) Self, Steve Pecharich, Robert (Sara) Pecharich Jr., Candace Pecharich and Elizabeth (John) Byrd, great grandchildren Tayler Self, Ashley Pecharich, and Kylie Self, and loving care takers Cornell and Maria Pop. His wife Eva, brothers Joe, Phil, Jasper, John and Ray, son Matt Pecharich Jr., and son in law Gene Lindner, preceded him in death.

Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2007 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood with burial at the Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale. Immediately following the burial, all family and friends are invited to attend a reception at the Clarkdale Elk's Lodge.
