Michael Owen McConeghy (Mike), 68 years' old, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away after a brief illness, on March 14, 2013, at the Coronado Home of Hospice of the Valley, in Phoenix, AZ. Mike was a veteran who served the United States on a submarine during the Vietnam War. He was well known and loved for his humor, compassion, hard-work, intelligence, and love of the gospel and of this great country. Not only was Mike always the first to lend a hand and help others through whatever difficulty they were experiencing, he usually did so with a humorous anecdote and a depth of knowledge and insight that would immediately put people at ease and provide comfort. Mike was 'Santa Claus' both in appearance and in spirit. He exemplified selfless giving for the greater good while maintaining a 'jolly' attitude throughout his endeavors. Mike is survived by his beautiful wife of 47 years (Diane), and their four children, Susan (Jared), Cari (Todd), Timothy (Amy), and Michael (Sandy). He is also survived by his parents, mother (Betty Lou), and mother and father-in-law (Jean and Tom). Mike was blessed with seventeen (17) grandchildren and three (3) great-grandchildren, all of whom mourn the loss of their Pap-Pap and Santa. Services for Mike will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at University & Mesa Dr. Mesa, AZ, 85203, on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Call 480-323-5896 for directions.
