Published by The Arizona Republic on Jul. 23, 2021 - Phoenix, Arizona - Phoenix - Jerry Dwayne Angerman, age 81, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2021, at Chandler Regional Hospital, Chandler, AZ from prostate cancer and Valley Fever. He was the son of Bessie and Bernard Angerman, born on June 19, 1940 in Gatesville, Texas. He was a star athlete in high school and attended Texas State University for his undergraduate degree. He then began a long teaching and coaching career (football), teaching biology and botany at the high school level. He left teaching to begin a long and successful career in banking and real estate developing; and also as a savings and loan owner, newspaper owner and charter helicopter service owner in Austin, TX. He ran for the Texas State Legislature and also built the Pinnacle building in southwest Austin. In 1980 they relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. Jerry was an avid athlete and sportsman, playing golf, hiking, tennis and pickle ball in Arizona. He was a warm and funny man; he enjoyed his 81st birthday recently with 21 guests at his home to help him celebrate. After cremation Jerry will rest at the foot of the Tempe, Arizona Buttes in the crematory garden. He is survived by his wife Karen L. Kretschman, who was by his side at the hospital when he died. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Brenda and Dina in Austin, stepsons Brian and James, and grandchildren Brandon and Alina, Jackson and Heather.
