Published by The Arizona Republic from Jul. 21 to Jul. 28, 2021 - Phoenix, Arizona - Philip Demeree 88 passed June 15, 2021. Phil was the son of Mike (F.A.) and Ruth Demeree and has one younger brother Bob (wife Kitzie), He attended Manlius Military Academy and was a member of the ski team The school's motto was "Manners Maketh the Man. This influenced all three of the men in his family who were graduates of this Academy. After graduation, Phil joined the army, during the Korean War, and went to OCS and became a First lieutenant. Philips' family owned a Chevrolet Dealership in Bainbridge, NY Phil took over the business and ran the dealership. He sold the agency and moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1980 to be near his Aunt Jayne. We all appropriately called "Auntie Mame". Phil then moved to Scottsdale and there continued his car business as an auto broker. He was always matching his clients with the perfect car for them. Philip was also a pilot and flew his own planes for years. He had many talents and interests Philip had a beautiful tenor voice and was a soloist for 10 years at the church he attended in his New York area. He sang with many choirs at his churches. Philip was a man of faith. He was a Stephens minister at the Mountain View Presbyterian Church. He was an excellent ballroom dancer (Arthur Murray taught); played tennis, golf and bridge. Over his golfing years, he had bragging rights to 2 holes in one! Phil took Plaza 3 classes and did some modeling, His Picture was on a billboard (with 2 others as one entered the state of Arizona.) My son Jim gave him a tape of Tai Chi. He began practicing, then took classes which he continued throughout the rest of his life. As he would practice outside often, neighbors would see him and he had a few others who joined the class. Phil was a kind soul and a gentleman to all he met. Preceded in death by his three children, Brad, Renee and Lisa. Phil is survived by his wife Gloria Lennox of 35 years and her children, Cheryl Lynda and Jim and 3 grandchildren, Mike, Alex and Katie. Two step-children Kathy, Bob and their families. Three grandchildren Brady, Tera and Merissa in other areas of the country. One niece, Anne and nephew Karl, and families. One cousin Linda and family in California be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 25 at Messinger's Mortuary with a celebration of life to follow at the Scottsdale House Restaurant. In Lieu of flowers, family is asking for donations to the Alzheimer Foundation of America. |
