Funeral Services Monday For John E. Slaughter, 46

Funeral services for John E. Slaughter, 46, former Phoenix police lieutenant who was killed in a truck accident Wednesday near Young, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memory Chapel, A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Slaughter was born in Seymour, Tex., in 1906, and came to Phoenix 40 years ago with his parents. He was a graduate of Phoenix Union High School and served on the police force 19 years and eight months. He served 3 1/2 years in World War II in the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of the Luke-Greenway Post No. 1, American Legion; the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Mr. Slaughter is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, John E. Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Roy Buralli; a brother, William M., all of Phoenix; and a sister, Mrs. E. D. Douttire.
