Jackie Stehr was born in Holdrege, Nebraska, on Dec. 28, 1947, to Harold and Geraldine Anderson. She grew up in that farming community--a town about the size of Wickenburg. When she was 19, circumstances brought Jackie to Flagstaff, Arizona, where she eventually met her husband of 50 years, Fred Stehr. After two years in North Hollywood, California, working for a large department store, the couple moved back to Arizona, where Fred was to do his student teaching at Glendale High School. In August of 1973, Jackie and Fred moved to Wickenburg, where Fred had taken a teaching job at Wickenburg High School. Jackie gave up a good job in Phoenix to move here. She tried commuting for awhile until she was rear ended in traffic, and that was that. She grew to love Wickenburg, but at heart she was still a Midwesterner and missed Nebraska and her family, which seemed to include just about every other Nebraskan. A born farmer, Jackie loved working in the soil gardening and did it well until her health failed.

Jackie was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and a patriotic American. She loved people and had the most gregarious and vivacious personality, until she was worn down by years of pain. She is survived by Fred and her sister, Pam (husband David White) and nieces Alexis, Melinda, Lauren, and Amy as well as a nephew, Patrick, and numerous Nebraska cousins. Jackie touched a lot of lives--both human and pets--here on Earth. It is a cliché to say she's now in a better place, but she really is. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Wickenburg Bible Fellowship Church with interment following at the Wickenburg Cemetery.

Friends may offer online condolences at Arrangements under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home & Crematory.
