Bradbury Memorial Center - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Nancy Ann Fickey passed away on Saturday, August 16th, 2021 at The Polidori House Hospice of Havasu at the age of 81, in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Nancy was born on July 1st, 1940 in Ironwood, Michigan to Carroll and Leona (Bixler) Center. She married Richard Ward Fickey on February 24th, 1963 and they started their life together in St. Paul, Minnesota. They had several moves throughout their marriage including Hutchinson, MN, Port Edwards, WI, Trumbull, CT, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and then settled full time in sunny Lake Havasu City, AZ. After graduating from Iowa State University in 1962 with an Applied Arts Degree, Nancy worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids as a graphic designer. Nancy worked in a department that designed manuals for their radio equipment. She was granted government clearance to work on the Apollo spacecraft project. Nancy enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to both Teresa and Mike but continued to do freelance projects putting her graphic design degree to work. Nancy always had a project whether it was sewing, decorating, or remodeling on a budget, and or quilting. Nancy was also her children's biggest cheerleader never missing a soccer match or swimming meet. Nancy believed in being an active community member and served on the Port Edwards School Board. After moving back to Wisconsin Rapids, Richard and Nancy embarked on a new adventure with their son Mike owning and operating Rapids Signs. She again was able to put her creativity and graphic design skills to use. She was an avid reader of historical fiction and loved to travel making sure her grandchildren received a postcard from their many vacation destinations. She loved football, always rooting for the Green Bay Packers and Iowa State Cyclones. Above all else, Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Richard Ward Fickey of Lake Havasu; Teresa Lynn (Mike) Guillemot of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Michael Ward Fickey of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; grandchildren: Thomas and Samuel Guillemot, Heather (Cam) Roach, and David Fickey. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Lee Center and her parents Carroll and Leona Center. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date in Wisconsin, summer/fall 2022. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice of Havasu (232 London Bridge Road Bldg. A Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403) with thanks for their kind and loving care. |
