Published by The Miner on Oct. 23, 2021 - Kingman, Arizona - Alice Lenora Talk passed away on Oct. 16, 2021 from her long fought and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born in Arkansas to O.D. and Georgia Dollarhide on Oct. 15, 1934. She lived in Kingman for a short period of time attending Mohave County Union High School. Her family then moved to Texas where she met the love of her life, Tommy Talk. They were married in 1954. Tommy was in the Army so they traveled extensively, even to Africa. They had four children: Debbie, Diane, Doug and David. Tommy retired from the Army in 1972 and they settled permanently in Kingman. Alice served 25 years with the City of Kingman as the administrative secretary for three different Chiefs of Police. She loved law enforcement and she attended the police academy earning the badge number of “Matron 1.” Alice was also a founding member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #16, where she served in various board member positions. She was chosen as the Woman Making History for Public Service in 2008. She loved to read, especially the Bible. She loved to sew and quilt, making quilts for the victims’ families of the Oklahoma City bombing and for soldiers in Afghanistan. She loved sports and passed down her passion for the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Braves to her family. During games she was heard saying “How ‘bout them Cowboys” and “Chop on Braves.” She also loved the card game called golf, giving everybody a run for their money. She loved the Lord and was a member of Saint John’s Methodist church. Alice was preceded to heaven by her husband Tommy; her son-in-law Brien Richards; her parents; two brothers, G.W. and Richard; and her sister Maxine. Alice is survived by her four children Debbie Francis (Steve), Diane Richards, Doug Talk (Cheryl) and David Talk (Debbie). Alice is also survived by 10 grandchildren Christie, Steven, Thomas, Brianna, Christian, Megan, Danielle, Doug Jr., Wyatt and Justin, as well as eight great-grandchildren Chance, Kaeley, Lexi, Abby, David, Michael, Alaina and Bellamy. Alice is also survived by two sisters, Coreen and Shirley; a brother, Ernie; and by many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Hope Haven Assisted Living where Alice lived the last two-and-a-half years of her life. She loved the staff and they were her family. We miss you. A big part of our world is gone. You were the nucleus of our family, always bringing us together. But it’s time for you to rest and be pain-free. Until we meet in heaven, we love you. Alice donated her body to science in the hope that research will help others. Any memorial donations can be made to Hope Haven Assisted Living, 2615 Chambers Ave., Kingman, or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research. See Also: Find A Grave |
