Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Wednesday, January 5, 2022, p. A-5 Russell "Russ" Hanson passed away on Dec. 28, 2021. Russ was born on Jan. 8, 1939 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1957 and married his high school sweetheart, Betty Tryba, on Nov. 7, 1959. He lived in Wisconsin where he was a journeyman rural electric lineman and later started his own excavating and trucking business. The family relocated to Arizona in 1985. Russ is survived by his wife Betty of 62 years; his children, Cary Hanson, Wickenburg, Kathy Barry, Cupertino, CA, Lisa Hanson, Madison, Wisconsin, Paul Hanson, Arvada, Colorado, Chris Hanson, Thorton, Colorado; 13 grandchildren; brother Roger (Ramona) Hanson; sister, Sylvia (Wally) Yount and sister-in-law, JoAnne Kostka. Russ was was a magician with cars and jeeps and loved restoring and working on them. He loved to share his expertise with his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed keeping his yard in tip-top shape. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 7, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
