James E. O'Morrow

James E. O’Morrow, 79, of Sandusky, Mich. passed away peacefully Saturday, June 13, 2009 at McKenzie Memorial Hospital in Sandusky. Mr. O’Morrow has lived in Sandusky most of his life and was previously from the Peck area.

He was born Feb. 19, 1930 in Peck, Mich., son to the late Arthur and Edith (Fletcher) O’Morrow. He graduated from Peck High School in 1946, where he was class Valedictorian.

He married Erma Lord on Aug. 22, 1953 in Bay City. She passed away March 3, 1998. He re-married Jean Lord July 10, 1994 in Sandusky.

Mr. O’Morrow founded and operated Sanilac Steel in Marlette from 1967 until his retirement in 2000. He also served on the Sanilac County Road Commission for many years.

He enjoyed golfing, gardening, spending winters in Fountain Hills and most of all, his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Sandusky; son, James Jr. and Barbara O’Morrow of Davison, Mich.; daughter, Susan and Gerald Miller of Fenton, Mich.; step-son, Kenny and Becky McCanham of Bad Axe, Mich.; step daughters, Cindy McCanham and fiancée, Cliff, of Peck; Brenda Alexander of Peck and Vicky and Roger Elsholz of Sandusky; a sister, Aileen Johnston of Peck; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Erma, son, Edward and sister, Virginia Johnston.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 17, at Marsh funeral Chapel in Sandusky. Burial will be in the Elk Township Cemetery in Peck.

Memorials may be donated to Sandusky Methodist Church, Senton Cancer Center or Boys Town.
