Ernest Cervantez Nabor |
Posted 2009-06-20 by Eastern Arizona Courier |
Ernest Cervantez Nabor was born Nov. 14, 1952, to Refugio and Raquel Nabor in Morenci. He was raised in Newtown, a place known for its deep family values. He joined the Army in 1971 and was honorably discharged in 1973. Ernie married Vergie (Wolf) Cervantez, and they were blessed with six children: Ernesto, Dora, Esther, Eric, Luis and Christine. In 1979, he gave his life to Jesus Christ and attended Grace Church in Clifton, where he was a song leader and deacon. The Lord called him into a ministry of his own by way of singing and preaching the good news of salvation through the grace of God. The Lord used Ernie to positively influence not only the physical but, more importantly, the spiritual aspect of everyday life. He certainly was a visionary, a motivator and a mentor to all who knew him. He was employed by Phelps Dodge for 14 years before moving his family to San Marcos, Texas, where he was a residential adviser at Gary Job Corps, where he worked until 1994. In 1995, he married Mona L. Jurado and began a new career with Proseed as a production manager for five years. In 1999, the couple moved back to Arizona to be closer to his parents and family. Soon after arriving back in Arizona, Ernie medically retired. There will never be enough words or actions to completely describe or show how much meaning and positive impact he displayed in his family’s lives. This man will be missed but never forgotten. Ernie is survived by his mother, Raquel Nabor; wife, Mona L. Nabor; son, Ernesto (Trisha) Nabor Jr.; daughters, Dora (Travis) Miller and Esther (Mark) Switzer; sons, Eric (Jennifer) and Luis Goucher; daughter, Christine (Chad) Morley; stepsons, Anthony and Joseph Jurado; stepdaughter, Erika (Robby) Kishbough; stepson, Chris Jurado; grandchildren, Gina, Caleb, Solomon, Enyssa, Emanuel Nabor, Andreya and Reigen Miller, Benjamin, Wesley and Mackenzie Switzer, Vin-cent and Aiden Nabor, Cadence Morley, Nicholas, Enrique and Malachi Jurado, Nathan and Robert Kishbough Jr.; brothers, Jerry and Harry Nabor; sisters, Ellen Mackenzi, Carol Nabor and Sally Balfour; and previous spouse, Virginia E. Cervantez Goucher. Ernie is preceded in death by three infant brothers; father, Refugio “Cuco;” and grandson, Patricio Nabor. Family has requested memorial contributions be made to Caldwell Funeral Chapel in Ernie’s name. Arrangements were under the direction of McDougal’s Caldwell Funeral Chapel.
