Desert Lawn Funeral Home -
Mohave Valley, Arizona -

Berlinda “Michelle” Sekel left us on a Saturday. Born on February 24th,
1968, she left us too soon after a battle with a short illness. Among
the many adventures Michelle enjoyed pet grooming, working at her
father’s restaurant, housekeeping, and several years as a CNA and
caregiver. No matter where Michelle went, she made life-long friends to
go along with her beautiful family which spans several states including
Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming.

Michelle was originally born in Denver, CO to John Gene Herrera and
Bersabella Cisneros. Shortly after, the family moved to Rock Springs,
Wyoming and she graduated in the neighboring town of Green River in
1987. It was during this time that Michelle gave birth to her first
child, Serena at the age of only 15 years old. Although raised by
extended family, Serena and her mother reconnected later in life and
were very close at the time of her passing.

After high school, Michelle gave birth to three more children, Allan,
Breeanna and Brent with her first husband, Allan Sekel. During this
time, Michelle and her children moved to Tucson, AZ and began a career
as a dog groomer. It was during her time at PetSmart that Michelle met
the love of her life, John Freeman. Michelle and John remained by each
other’s side for the next 25 years until her untimely passing on
February 19, 2022.

Michelle leaves behind her partner John, her four children, her brother
James, her best friend Wendy, and what would have been her first
biological grandson that she was very excited to meet. A multitude of
other friends and extended family also mourn the loss of Michelle, whose
loving personality, her inability to say no to anybody in need, and her
infectious smile and laugh touched all who knew her. She will be greatly
missed. WE LOVE YOU MOMMA.
