Arizona Republic (Phoenix, Arizona) Sunday, January 17, 1965, p. 6-B DOUGLAS (AP)--An 85-year-old man who lived in Arizona for almost 80 years died yesterday in Douglas Hospital. Thomas Henry Elvey, a native of Chicago, moved to Phoenix as a child. He served as Douglas city magistrate from 1951 to 1960. He formerly operated a sporting goods store and a key shop here. Mr. Elvey was an Arizona Penitentiary guard in 1930-32. He returned to Douglas in 1934 from Phoenix. He was a Mason, Elk, Eastern Star and past department president of the United Spanish War Veterans. A daughter, Mrs. William E. Wood of Douglas, survives. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow in Brown-Page Chapel. |
