Darrell Ernest Weaver

Darrell Ernest Weaver, age 68, passed away September 27, 2022. He was
born July 30, 1954, in Evergreen Park, Illinois. In 1976, at the age of
21, he enrolled in the U.S. Army and was honored to be an Airborne
Ranger (2nd Battalion, 75th Regiment). After serving with the US Army,
Darrell spent a large portion of his career as a corrections officer at
the Pierce County jail. Eventually he returned to the armed forces,
serving in the Washington Army National Guard and retired as a Sergeant
Major. He served two tours in Iraq in the 161st Infantry Regiment and
81st Brigade Combat Team during his time on active duty. He retired in
2010. Darrell lived the majority of his life in Gig Harbor, Washington,
and eventually settled in Salome, AZ, in 2013. In Salome, Darrell served
at the local VFW Post #3708. He enjoyed visits with his family, riding
his quad in the desert, and harassing local businesses with friends.

Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Hazel (Elliott)
Weaver, of 36 years. He is survived by his three daughters Rebecca
(Weaver) Montgomery, Connee (Comfort) Finch, and Alicia (Comfort)
Goodman; nine grandchildren, Kaleb, Kyler, Isabelle, Amanda, Christian,
Meara, Ethyn, Brandon, and Marcus; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends, family and fellow soldiers are invited to attend military
honors at Tahoma National Cemetery (18600 SE 240th St., Covington, WA,
98042) on November 12, 2022 at 9:00 AM, followed by a small reception
for everyone at the Black Diamond Bakery (32805 Railroad Ave., Black
Diamond, WA, 98010). A memorial will also be held at the Salome VFW,
date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that
donations be made to the Salome VFW Post #3708.
