Published by Today's News Herald on Nov. 20, 2022 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Robert C. Hermes Jr., 73, passed away at his home of 20 years, in Lake Havasu City on Nov. 10, 2022. He was born Aug. 1, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio. His parents brought him to Fairbanks, Alaska as a young boy. His parents, Robert Sr. and Dorothy Hermes, preceded him in death. He graduated from Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska. Robert and his wife, Diana, were married on July 14, 1984. He worked for Fairbanks Northstar Borough School District for more than 30 years. Robert is survived by his wife; Diana, daughter; Rhonda Ripplinger of Freeport, Minnesota, stepdaughters; Virginia Harris, of Benson, Arizona and Christine Spence, of Las Vegas, five grandsons, and five great- grandchildren. He coached Little League baseball for a number of years and coached American Legion high school boys' baseball traveling team, in Fairbanks. Robert was also a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles, Elks, National Rifle Association, and the LHC Sportsman Club. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
