Atlantic News Telegraph (Atlantic, Iowa) Monday, December 1, 1969 Vernon Sien, 61, Dies Friday in Phoenix, Ariz. Vernon J. Sien, 61, former resident of the Lorah vicinity died Friday evening in the Memorial hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. He had been hospitalized two months with a malignancy. Mr. Sien was born in Sidney, Nebr., Oct. 15, 1908, the son of August and Mary M. Keopke Sien and lived at Emerson and Glenwood, graduating from high school there. He also attended Iowa State university and was married to Pearl Westphalen Feb. 7, 1933. They resided in the Lorah vicinity until moving to Wickenburg, Ariz., about 20 years ago and was engaged in the V. J. Sien Construction company business there. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Robert Mason, Phoenix; two sons, Bruce Sien, Carlsbad, N.M., and David Sien, with the Navy; his mother, Mrs. Mary Sien, a sister, Mrs. Herman Euken and a brother, Paul Sien, all of Atlantic; another brother, Howard Sien, Eugene, Ore., and seven grandchildren. His father preceded him in death. Funeral services are pending at the Roland funeral home here. |
