Published by Today's News Herald on Mar. 26, 2023 - Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Alice Dufek was born Oct. 27, 1921, to Roy and Ellen Robertson in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School and worked at Sturgeon Bay Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company as a private secretary until 1948 when their first son, Gary, was born. She married Harry Dufek, Oct. 27, 1945. The following year, Harry and Alice opened Dufek's Shoe Service – a shoe repair shop which eventually also became a family shoe store. In 1968, they took a McCulloch flight to Lake Havasu City and moved here in 1969 with their five children. Her husband Harry opened Ye Olde Shoe Shoppe, the first shoe repair shop in Lake Havasu City, which was later, changed to Dufek's Shoe Service. Alice worked with him until they retired in 1983. Alice is preceded in death by husband Harry in 1985, brother James Robertson in 2001, brother John Robertson in 2015 and son Jan in 2010. She is survived by sons Gary (Linda), Tucson; Lon (Amy), Lake Oswego, Oregon; Todd (Michelle), Phoenix and daughter Joy Schwab (Cliff), Winthrop, Washington. She also is survived by her eight grandchildren: Barry, Roy, Anna, Jonathan, Joshua, Heidi, Holly and Beth and two great- grandchildren Brekelle and Molly. Alice was a member of Christ Chapel, Havasu Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Havasu Christian Women's Connection, Sassy Hatters of Havasu. She was a very dedicated Christian and loved and served faithfully her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her entire life. Her biggest accomplishment was her family who she loved dearly. She loved living in Lake Havasu and loved to travel along with visiting family and grandchildren. Ashes will be buried, along with husband Harry, and son, Jan, in the Shiloh Moravian Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Contributions may be made to Christ Chapel, Lake Havasu City or Shiloh Moravian Cemetery Association, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Christ Chapel, 3450 Chemehuevi Blvd, Lake Havasu City. Services are entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
