| Wickenburg Sun (Wickenburg, Arizona) Friday, July 12, 1947, p. 1 Rites Wednesday For Martha Shook Rev. Merle Heatwole of Skull Valley conducted funeral services in the Presbyterian Church here Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Martha Florence Shook who died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Prather, Monday morning following an extended illness. Burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mrs. Shook was born in Joliet, Ill., October 28, 1886. She was married 44 years ago to John C. Shook who died in 1941. Mrs. Shook became an Arizona resident in 1908 when she homesteaded land at Pierce, in southern Arizona. She had lived with her daughter here since 1948. Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Prather, are two sons, Raymond of Skull Valley, and John C. of Whittier, Calif., and four grandchildren. Ralph Prather returned Tuesday in time for the funeral after being called to Indianapolis, Ind., upon the death of his father, J. L. Prather, July 1. |
